LADY BAY OPEN GARDENS

ENTRIES FOR OPEN GARDENS FOR 2025 will be open in January 25

Sunshine and Stunning Gardens Make Lady Bay Open Gardens a Huge Success!

The 2024 Lady Bay Open Gardens bathed in glorious sunshine, contributing to a record-breaking event! Over 1,300 adults plus children enjoyed a delightful weekend exploring the diverse gardens, raising a significant amount for worthy causes.  The addition of the large number of ‘garden in a wheelbarrow’ entries added lots of interest to the event and enabling more of the community to get involved.

This beloved annual tradition, a mainstay of the Lady Bay summer for 31 years, wouldn't be possible without the dedicated community spirit. This year, visitors raved about the variety of gardens showcased, the warmth of the hosts' welcomes, and the delicious refreshments and entertainment. The event was a resounding success, exceeding fundraising goals and donation to the Lady Bay Community Fund and a remarkable £2,000 for the individual garden owners' chosen charities.

A huge thank you goes to sponsors Rex Gooding and John A Stephens, and especially to all the participating homeowners who generously opened their beautiful gardens.

The dedicated team behind the event is already looking ahead to next year. Mark your calendars for June 21st and 22nd, 2025, coinciding with the summer solstice! To ensure another successful year, they're seeking 1-2 enthusiastic volunteers to join their friendly steering group. Gardening expertise isn't required – just a willingness to attend a few meetings and offer support before and during the event weekend.

We look forward to seeing you next year at Lady Bay Open Gardens!

lady bay open gardens ‘Garden in a Wheelbarrow 2024 Competition’

As part of the Open Gardens weekend we invited children & adults to create a garden in a wheelbarrow!!

    Any barrow, large or small.

The theme was Recycle Repurpose Reuse so old leaking barrows was given a new lease of life!

Wheelbarrows were displayed in front gardens so that visitors could enjoy them as they strolled around the Open Gardens.

The competition was sponsored by our local supplier John A Stephens who have generously offered to supply compost for the event.

Individual, group and family entries were all welcome.

Flowers, vegetables, fruit, whimsical, magical …. the choices are as wide as the imagination!

Last year’s Lady Bay Open Gardens was a huge success, thank you to all that supported the event.  Over 1,100 adults visited plus children with proceeds donated to the Lady Bay Community Fund.  In addition, garden hosts also raised over £1,300 for their chosen charities.

The volunteer committee met after the weekend for a post event meeting, and all felt the event was a resounding success. Visitors enjoyed meeting and chatting to gardeners over the two days, they also said that the variety of different spaces on show and the warm welcome made all the difference. The refreshments and entertainment were also enjoyed by all.

We would like to thank this year’s sponsors Rex Gooding, Moores' Nurseries and Garden Centre and John A Stephens for their support and to Nottinghamshire County Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council for their contributions towards printing costs and of course to all the homeowners who are taking part this year.
