GOVERNMENT AND NATIONAL ADVICE AND GUIDANCE
Statistics
- Main Government website for Coronavirus data, inc daily figures. https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/
- Weekly UK Government National Flu and Covid-19 surveilance reports. For dedicated data hounds only, data pre-October 2020 can be found in these National COVID-19 surveillance historical reports, including Local figures
- World data and country by country comparisons - very flexible tool from Our World in Data. Another commonly-used source is by Worldometer.
- Office of National Statistics pages on Covid-19. Their surveys are randomised and so offer perhaps the most accurate picture of the situation, albeit with an inevitable time-lag. Issued weekly.
BBC page offering regular updates on statistics, including local search by post-code. - Covid19 Daily Symptom reporting - This is a national survey to track symptoms (and lack of them) on a daily basis in as much of the UK population as possible - the app and more details can be found here - https://covid.joinzoe.com/
Vaccinations:
- This is the main link to the vaccine roll-out in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire from the Nottm & Notts Clinical Commissioning Group, which includes the phone numbers and the links to the online booking systems for each of the main groups to be vaccinated. The Gamston vaccination centre has reported that, "if you call the NHS number 119, you will be directed to Derby. This is because Nottinghamshire has its own booking system and number. You need to call 0115 883 4640. However please book online if you can, as the number gets very busy. "
- Public Health England pamphlet on Covid-19 and vaccinations.
- There is an increased risk of scams related to vaccine communications - for example bear in mind this alert from Notts police - https://www.nottinghamshirealert.co.uk/da/358355
- Covid-19 Boosters - Walk-ins now accepted at several sites - https://nottsccg.nhs.uk/covid-19/nhs-urges-public-to-take-up-covid-19-booster-offer-as-certain-sites-start-accepting-walk-ins/
Health:
- N H S 111 Online guidance on Covid-19 - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/. It includes a form to use if you have to self-isolate, to submit to your employer and lots of relevant links.
- Guidance for those with asthma - https://www.asthma.org.uk/advice/triggers/coronavirus-covid-19/
- Coronavirus Information Service on WhatsApp - Central Government has launched its Coronavirus Information Service on WhatsApp, as announced on Twitter. The free service is an automated ‘chatbot’ that will provide information on coronavirus prevention and symptoms, the latest number of cases in the UK, advice on staying at home, travel advice and myth busting. It aims to further reduce the burden on NHS services, including 111, combat the spread of the virus and ensure people stay at home and save lives.
- Government's main page on their response, with lots of links to current advice and guidance - https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus. Scroll down a bit and click on the first option 'How to protect yourself and others' for guidance on Social Distancing, Self Isolation and Shielding and Protecting the Extremely Vulnerable. As an example, here is the government's guidance on the regulations, which should show links to guidance on specific subjects, such as shielding etc., when appropriate.
Separate guidelines for the 'Extremely Vulnerable', a subset of the above group who were sent a letter on the 22nd March - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19. This link includes, quite a way down, a link to the system for registering as Extremely Vulnerable which, once done, opens up suitable support for people in this group. - For those in the 'vulnerable' category, the councils are preparing a registration scheme to help deliver support where needed - details can be found on the County Council's new Community Support Hub - https://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/care/coronavirus/nottinghamshire-coronavirus-community-support-hub.
- But also see the entry about West Bridgford Community Helpers , a street-based network of volunteers to support vulnerable and those self-isolating, on our Local Support Initiatives page. A member of the West Bridgford Community Helpers has produced this list of many of the services available, specifically relating to Staying at Home during Covid-19 situation - some duplications with our normal listings below but many new ones, which I'll gradually try to add over time.
